All You Need to Know About Our Sidcup Ear Wax Removal Service

Ear wax isn’t usually a concern. It works in the background, preventing infections and injuries to your ears. However, if ear wax production becomes excessive or you end up with dried and impacted ear wax, it can play havoc with your hearing.

Microsuction is the latest advancement in ear wax removal. It works quickly, efficiently, and comfortably to clear wax, including stubborn blockages, with one appointment taking just 30 minutes or so end to end.

Without the mess, residues, and discomfort linked with traditional syringing, powerful yet gentle suction is the fastest way to tackle ear wax. Given that the advanced tool never makes contact with the sensitive inner ear, it is suited to almost every ear wax concern without irritating delicate tissue.

Why Book a Microsuction Ear Wax Removal Slot in Sidcup

Any signs of excess ear wax or a blockage mean that booking a hearing check and microsuction ear wax removal may be beneficial. Still, it’s also essential that you schedule an appointment if there are indications that impacted ear wax is damaging your hearing.

While there are countless symptoms that point towards ear wax blockages or build-ups, we’d recommend booking a microsuction treatment if any of the following sound familiar:

  • Feeling that your ears are stuffy, clogged, blocked, or full, or changes in your hearing where sounds might seem distorted, muffled, or hard to make out.
  • Pain, discomfort, irritation in one or both ears or any symptoms that could point to an ear infection, such as fever.
  • Ongoing challenges with excess ear wax production, or balance and dizziness complaints, which are commonly due to ear wax blockages.

It’s also important to have your ears checked if you have a persistent and ongoing cough without any other obvious cause or if you suspect an accumulation of ear wax is affecting your hearing quality.

Should you decide to schedule a microsuction appointment and our audiology team doesn’t find any wax, we’ll be pleased to offer a reduced consultation fee while taking a look for any alternative causes of issues you’ve had with your hearing.

What Happens at a Microsuction Treatment at Our Sidcup Clinic

Microsuction isn’t stressful, uncomfortable, or time-consuming, but we recognise that if you’re new to the procedure or have had issues related to ear wax in the past, you’ll likely feel a little apprehensive. We’re here to put your mind at rest and ensure that caring for your ears is worry-free.

During each microsuction appointment, we’ll work through the following steps and can pause at any point if you have questions or concerns:

  1. Each appointment starts with a discussion of any symptoms, changes to your hearing or worries you may have, ensuring we check for the causes before proceeding with microsuction in case there is an alternative reason for hearing disturbances.
  2. Next, we’ll explore the inside of your ear using a tiny, comfortable camera to look for ear wax blockages. You can also watch this on the screen if you’d like to see what your ears look like or help us spot compacted wax!
  3. Finally, we’ll use the microsuction device as appropriate, which provides gentle but effective suction to remove traces of wax, blockages and dried wax.

Ear wax microsuction is simple and pain-free, and you can return to the rest of your day with the confidence that your ears are completely clean, with the assurance that if you find ongoing issues with ear wax, we’ll schedule a follow-up at zero cost to you.

Why Microscuction over Syringing?

We only advocate for microsuction ear wax removal in favour of syringing. Although many clients are used to the mess, fuss and irritation of syringing, we believe that microsuction is more effective in every way.

Some of the very many reasons to prefer microsuction over alternatives include the following:

  • Improved Patient Safety: Microsuction avoids liquids that can irritate sensitive ears or exacerbate injuries, and makes no contact with the inside of your ear, which can have the potential to cause pain or discomfort.
  • Faster Ear Wax Removal: Using suction to eliminate ear wax takes around half an hour, and we can almost always tackle even stubborn and longstanding blockages in a hyper-efficient manner.
  • Excellent Outcomes: This method of ear wax removal has a staggering 99% success rate, which means there is a minimal likelihood of residual ear wax and very little chance of requiring a follow-up.

In scenarios where we don’t find any wax, we’ll reduce your appointment fee and provide insights about the alternative and most likely causes of any changes to your hearing you’ve been experiencing.
